Laura,I'll start the ball rolling for holiday cookie recipes. I can never get enough of them. Here's a recipe for something I've never made but plan on it. I love all things lemon and last year went to a cookie exchange and these were soooo good. When my friend told me how easy they were to make,I didn't believe her. Here's the recipe.

    Lemon Angel Bar Cookies

    1 can lemon pie filling
1 box of Betty Crocker Angel food cake mix (any one step mix will do)
    1/2 cup water

Mix together and bake in a jelly roll pan (ungreased) at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Cool, then drizzle with a thin icing of your choice. Cut into small squares

I've tried several of these recipes, and they've been good. If you can find Kiefle, those are easy but look fancy and taste great.

I'd love to share my Grandmomma's Cowboy Cookie Recipe. I don't know it by heart though and I'm at work right now. I'll try to remember to bring a copy with me tomorrow.

It's a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie and it's awesome. I think the secret is that it's made with shortening... so it's super bad for you, but so yummy you don't care.

Oh boy! I just got home from being out of town for a week & now we're talking about cookies!

    These are DH's favorite.

    Candy Cane Cookies

    1/2 C butter
    1/2 C shortening
    1 C Confectioner's zugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/2 C flour
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp red food coloring

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, confectioners' sugar, egg & flavorings. Blend in flour & salt. Divide dough in half & blend in food coloring into one half. Shape 1 tsp dough from each dough half into a 4" rope rolling dough back & forth on a lightly floured board. Place ropes side by side & twist around each other & shape into the shape of a cane. Place on ungreased cookie sheet & bake for 9 minutes or until set & light brown.

    Yield: 2 doz.

Any type of cookie you would like to share the recipe. Best if it has a memory or fondness to it. I will post my favorite soon. I'm not slouching...

I always make Buckeyes for Christmas. Not sure about this year because we are still packing and will probably move next week if the weather is good. Things have been awful here. Just when I thought things could not be worse with the move etc. Dan was hospitalized with chest pains. Not his heart thank God but don't know what it was. Goes to see another doctor today. Then the movers who we picked because of their experience with fragile things broke a piece of our glass collection. The mover was distraught, I was trying to comfort him while Dan was cussing. It would have been funny if you were not involved. I guess after bringing Dan home in one piece the glass did not matter at all. I went on my fornightly visit to the shrink for depression and the first words out of her mouth were Rebecca you look exausted. I was too tired to even whine at the shrink so I guess I let off steam here. Sorry. Anyway here is the Buckeyes recipe. It takes me a long time to make the little balls but they are really good. I also make them when the Buckeyes are playing in a championship. Go Bucks!

    INGREDIENTS
    1 1/2 cups peanut butter
    1 cup butter, softened
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    6 cups confectioners' sugar
    4 cups semisweet chocolate chips

    DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, mix together the peanut butter, butter, vanilla and confectioners' sugar. The dough will look dry. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on a waxed paper-lined cookie sheet.
Press a toothpick into the top of each ball (to be used later as the handle for dipping) and chill in freezer until firm, about 30 minutes.
Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler or in a bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water. Stir frequently until smooth.
Dip frozen peanut butter balls in chocolate holding onto the toothpick. Leave a small portion of peanut butter showing at the top to make them look like Buckeyes. Put back on the cookie sheet and refrigerate until serving.

Not a cookie, but I made these brownies for my son's Christmas party at work. If you like chocolate, and I mean really really really ... LOL ... like chocolate, these are the richest brownies I have ever had. I left out the instant coffee, because I don't buy instant.

Boy, you can spot the cooks who live in Ohio. Buckeyes for Christmas are almost a sacred ritual in our community. Everyone knows somebody who makes buckeyes for Christmas.

Tisha!!!!! I made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies last week. Six dozen of them. I shared a dozen and a half with my DD and her husband, shared another couple dozen with my husband. But, I made them after he'd gone to bed, dug out a fresh gallon of milk and ate about two dozen of them hot out of the oven before they even set up and got cool. Man, I was siiiiiiiiiiiiick after that binge, but it was worth the agony.
