For the lilies, I would do a couple of things. Check the lily forum here, or go to www.thelilygarden.com. They have explicit instructions on how to grow lilies from seed.

I'm not sure about this species salvia, whether it is grown differently than other salvias or not. Is it a hardy salvia in your zone, JPierre? If so, I would start it in early spring outdoors in a container, like winter sowing. Use something like a 2-litre soda bottle, with the top one-third cut off. Poke holes in the bottom for drainage, fill with potting soil, and water it in. You want to make sure you have at least 4-6" of soil after the water drains out. I make a vertical cut in the bottom part of the top portion of the bottle, so that you can fold it over to fit inside the bottom part. Voila, you have a container. Put it outside in sun or part sun. The seeds will germinate and your plant will grow and be acclimatized to the growing conditions outdoors without having to harden it off.

P.S. If you use potting soil w/o fertilizer, don't forget to fertilize your seedlings, at about 1/4 strength fertilizer using a very soft spray.
