fell in love with this rose from a picture someone posted in an old thread. found it yesterday at Walmart. I can't wait to get it in the ground. I'm not having any luck researching its habits/fragrance. Anyone grow this cutie?

Try researching again using the correct spelling. It's CREME, not Cream.

Being an 'oddball" rose lover, IRISH CREME is one of the few plants I actually have more than one of. It's an excellent rose. The blooms are gorgeous and fairly long-lasting and they repeat pretty well. I have one plant that is nearly 4ft tall, and another one is more like 3ft. Of course the taller one is a couple yrs older and gets more intense sun. I don't detect much scent, but then I usually don't. It is one of the "brownest" roses there is. It gets lovely semi-ruffly blooms of dk cocoa-brown with mavey-lavender edges. Sometimes it will throw out some yellow tones too.

And I am kicking myself for not picking this one up last spring when I found it at Meijer's. Oh well, spring is coming maybe they'll have it again this year.

    Lovely photos, Beth.

    Seil,

I got a baby for you if you'd like it. We can add that with the Fire N Ice!

Northtexasdude, was this rose in the Great Value peat pot? I have been haunting Walmart for a couple of weeks waiting for them to come in......all they have are the body bag roses. I am hoping they have not discontinued these super roses......maybe they are just late this year. I also live in Texas, and that is one of my big treats is to pick out winners from this group of roses.

Judith, i hear the term "bodybag" alot and i am not sure if that means the ones inside the store that have absolutely no growth, or the ones outside that are about 1' tall. The ones I got were outside and about 1' tall (pruned) in a bagged pot. I could not believe all the varieties walmart had.

Keith......by bodybag, I think its meant that the roses are packed in plastic sort of elongated bags tied at top with wire. The Walmart Great Value roses that I am hankering after are planted in peat pots then wrapped in plastic. I will bet this is the kind you have. Did the wrapper have Great Value on it? If so.....that surely means the other stores will have them. They are late and I am impatient!! I drive by every day, hoping they will have been unloaded. The "bodybags" have more common roses - Mirandy, Queen Elizabeth, Golden Showers, etc. But the Great Values have really different ones. I have been worried Wallyworld wont carry these anymore, but they are a Walmart brand - maybe the weather has been too cold or they want the bodybags to sell out or?? Whatever, just as long as they show up!!! What other varieties do you remember that they have? Thanks!!

I have Irish Creme too. Personally, as a flower, I like the Julia's Rose better, but it is more delicate in my area. Irish Creme is supposed to be delicate too, but it's been holding it's own quite well here the past couple of years (knock on wood).

The Julia's Rose is a softer parchment brown and a more delicate flower. It's also harder to grow. Ahh, as is with all beauties.
