I have that plant. It was purchased from Kawamoto Orchids in Hawaii, you might check with them. It also has AM/AOS after the name, meaning it earned an award. My tag reads:

Epc Siam Jade 'AVO' AM/AOS

When two orchids are crossed all of their offspring have the same grex, or hybrid name even though there will be remarkable differences in these plants as you would expect from seed raised plants. You have a hybrid with a grex of Siam Jade.

To distinguish one seedling from another they have to be given a cultivar name which should appear in single speech marks 'like this'. You have a particular cultivar of Siam Jade called 'Avo' (I do not know why capitals have been used ie why 'AVO' rather than 'Avo'). Hence you have Siam Jade 'AVO'.

There may well be many different Epc. Siam Jades around but if you want your specific plant you need to buy Epc. Siam Jade 'Avo' and not just Epc Siam Jade.

The AM/AOS is Award of Merit from the American Orchid Society

There may be many, or several, Epc Siam Jade plants around. They will look as different, or as similar, as you would expect brothers and sisters to look. The parents are Epc Vienna Woods x C Penny Kurodo. One of them was given the name 'AVO' and got the award. At that time it was probably cloned and now you have many identical plants kicking around. Here is a picture:

Mine has bloomed and it looks exactly like the picture, as it should. AVO probably has special meaning only to the person who gave the plant that name.

Epi = Epidendrum. Cattleya = Cattleya. This plant is a manmade hybrid between the two genera. It is not a simple cross between two natural species, one Epidendrum and one Cattleya, however. Hence the fancy grex name. Probably its parents were both already hybrids. If you want to know more about this complex and fascinating subject go to the RHS ( Royal Horticultural Society) website at Kew Gardens and look up orchid hybrids. They have a search engine which enables you to track down your orchid's parentage. It may go back many generations.
