I have not had luck germinating these, although I am unsure of my seed maturity. Can you describe what your seed looks like?

My seeds are coloured olive, fawn or dark brown and a little shiny. They are about 1cm x 0.6 cm and hard. Should I soak or scarify do you think?

Saw these while I was vacationing in Hawiaii a couple of weeks ago. Very interesting tree. Would make a great conversation piece here in Iowa.

I do not have the seed in front of me, but I doubt that soaking would hurt them. I do not know about scarification Âthe web material just says they are easy germinators. Thanks for posting your seed description - the pod I gathered for my seeds was too immature.
On the jacaranda - mine did best in shade the first year. The ones I had in high sun areas did not survive.

I had trouble germinating these the first time I tried them. I then found out they are a heat dependent germinator so you need to have them on a heat tray It also helps to scarify. When I did those 2 things, I had close to 100% of my seeds germinate. There viability is pretty long too mine were still fine after close to a year. As for after care, mine do quite well in an east facing window. TheyÂre not supposed to get any sun but I found a little in the morning to be beneficial. As for soil, I never found any information on that but I have them in half normal potting soil and half sharp sand and they seem very happy.

I have had great luck germinating the sausage tree seeds. Getting the seeds out of the sausage fruit was the hard part. Had to use a hammer and chisel to get at the seeds. Fruit is very tough.
