Yes the are slower to germinate & yes the squirles may have had a meal whold off before reseeding....

I find chinese forget-me-nots are rather fickle critters, and they do take a while to germinate. Columbine usually take well over a month to germinate, and (depending on age - the older, the less they need it, I read - and slightly on species) may require a cold period to germinate. Moon vine will take a while unless you nick it first, to allow water to enter the seed more easily, and tell it to germinate. I never tried morning glories, but marigolds are certainly some of the quickest germinators. My record so far is anthyllis vulneraria coccinea (nicked), with less than 24 hours!

Thanks so much for the replies. You know what they say about a watched pot..lol. Guess I am a little impatient. I did find my forget me nots peeking out this morning before I left for work. I will let you know how they all do as far as maturing and blessing me with some flowers! Still can't wait for the Columbine and Moon Vine to show themselves; but it has only been about 2 weeks. Magus, I read your page and hope you have much success with your flowers and find that oasis in the summer breeze :)..George you sound really knowlegeable from what I read on your page. Hi Again!..All my seeds are coming up and I was really amazed at how much bigger the new growth is on the moon vine than the other plants. Didn't know it would be so different; but I need advice! There are only two leaves on each new moon vine plant as of yet; and one of them has acutally just broken ground completely today. The leaves on it are kind of yellow and dry.. am I not watering it enough or could it be something else... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to lose them. Thanks!
