Not a pepper plant...

I've grown this plant from seed for the last two years. I thought it was a spicy pepper that grew very slowly and overwintered. For fun, I stuck it in the ground this spring. It grew slowly and I just looked at it thinking what a funny pepper plant this is, and then I noticed the spikes coming out of it. Sorry this is out of focus. Can you lead me in the proper direction?

Citrus won't survive in zone 6b, dig it back up and pot as a winter houseplant, other 3 seasons outdoors.

Orange or lemon maybe. Crush a leaf and you will see. Zone 9 plant.
