Very beautiful!

The flowers are indeed very lovely but there are a few things I notice in the picture. Firstly the shrub appears to have been clipped into a blob shape at the wrong time of year resulting in the loss of flowers over much of the bush. Secondly, there is a good deal of green foliage implying reversion of the variegated shrub. These branches need to be cut out or, in time, the entire shrub will be green. Finally, and the worst news imo, is that there is bindweed growing through the shrub. A nightmare weed.

i agree with flora.. i prefer the natural shape of the plant .. it could be renovation pruned back into such shape ...

but i thank you for the pix ...

Thank you for your advice. I will surly listen and take care of these. I thought the green leaves are some other plants growing at the foundation. Among the weeds, there is a grape vine =)

Yes, I can see a grape stem coming out far right. But the bindweed is a worse weed. BTW Weigela is really easy from cuttings if you want more plants.

I feel so sad. Because I took pictures, the owner cut it down to a small fence size. Now the shrub is tiny and is of cubic shape. The owner did not remove the green parts. The owner probably thought I would report him to the city or something? I was really just loving his shrub ... sigh. There is few flowering this year. The plant is set back :-(

Cry! I went to check the plant, because the owner cut it severely and repeatedly in Fall 2013, plus possibly the Polar Vortex, the plant did not leaf out this year. It is a neat cubic of branches. It has died. Is cutting Weigela in Fall dangerous for their over winter?
