That's really nice. I wish more people would post pictures of their finished projects. Did you take some pictures while you were building it? I'd love to see the procedure. I've built a couple of retaining walls with rounder rocks, but never a freestanding wall. I'd love to build one sometime, but it's going to be difficult with rounder stones.

Yeah Jugglerguy I took pics while building. I'll post a bunch more projects and process pics in this thread in a few days, but right now I'm in the middle of finals. :( Last semester though!

But in the meantime, it is possible for you to build a free-standing wall with rounder stones. Give me a link to some pics to show me what type of stones you're working with.

I'm just starting to gather materials to do a stone patio with a fire pit in the woods behind my house. I'll take pictures of my progress and post them in a new thread.

jugglerguy, Love your fire pit. I am 50 & have a 16 year old eagle scout who love fire & camping. So, I have free labor. :) what size is your ring & how deep on the high side?
I had wanted a sitting area cut in a slope with a stone wall & small fruit tree. The stone/block/rock wall will heat up the Spring & protect from some of the winter wind.
So it will be a bulls eye with 3 rings fire pit, chairs, circle path, fruit trees in bed, then stone wall.
