laying a concrete paver patio, please help.

I am planning to lay a patio in my backyard by myself. Currently the area has dirt in it, no sod to remove. I want to use 16 inch square pavers, such as can be found at HD or Lowe's. Our area does get frost and a couple of inches of snow a year. I do not know if this will affect what I do.

I have viewed some online videos. I plan to dig out about 7 inches of dirt, then fill it with paver base(is there anyplace I can get this in bulk, rather than by the bag). Then level, compact and put in some paver sand. Then lay the 16" pavers.

Can I hear from anyone who has done this project themselves, so that I can proceed with the minimum cost and avoid errors.

Thanks
