'drainage rock' & landscape fabric in base?

Hi, We want to lay a pathway (about 3' wide and 20' long) from some broken concrete pieces we have. We were told by a landscaper here in town that he prefers to use "drainage rock" instead of 3/4" rock for the base since it drains better. I haven't seen reference to that any other place though. Has anyone heard of that or have any ideas on it?The soil seems to drain relatively well.

I'm also curious about landscape fabric. I've seen reference to putting it under the rock base to keep the rocks from shifting into the soil underneath, and I've also seen reference to putting it between the rock and the sand to keep the sand from settling into the spaces in the rock. And then most places don't mention it at all. Anyone have suggestions or ideas on that?

Thanks for any info or ideas, linda
