If you are in Eastern Oregon first check the price of water.

In Northeast Nevada some places have ridiculous water prices and some nearby places the water is almost free.

I did the same 3 years ago, it was covered with two inches of grass and moss dug it all up with a pitch fork and started planting flowers a month later. If you can till your veggie garden then get some well aged manure spread it on and till it in a couple weeks later, let the rain do most of the work.

Thanks! For the beds that were tightly packed with perennials, I actually ended up posting free plants on Craigslist and said to bring a shovel and dig up what you wanted. I had well over 100 replies. What would have been an overwhelming task was done by everyone else!

While they dug away, I managed to get a dozen overgrown bushes pruned down and the yard raked up. I never thought I'd be this far on this far on this at this point. It's been a lot of fun to see it shape up too. The Saturday the Craigslisters came over, I learned so much about what I had in my yard and the way to take care of things we didn't have in MN. Even started my flowers from seed this year and THEY ARE GROWING!

I am 3 years into the flower gardening and the obsession is getting out of control. I think I like it ;o)
