I hope this question isn't too trivial...

I have an uprooted stump from Katrina to remove & am just seeking some advice on how to go about this.

I have some pics but it doesn't look like I can post them...(my wife usually posts here)

I just need to know the best way to attack this. I have a chainsaw, but with all of the dirt still "up" on the roots, not sure if I can use the chainsaw just yet.

Do I just need to knock off as much dirt as I can for now, & then try to go in with a chainsaw, or try another approach? I have a large grass I would like to plant in its place & need to get this eyesore out of the way first.
