I've never used a soaker hose and was wondering what is the best way to use them with the plastic sheet mulch.

Should a 4" deep trench be dug along the plants, lay in the hose and then cover hose and planting area with the plastic mulch.. then poke holes and plant?

Or

Lay out and fasten mulch sheet, poke holes, plant and then just law soaker hose on top of mulch along plants?
