soaker hose

I want to purchase a soaker hose. There seem to be two different materials they are made out of: one that is flat and made of a black fabric, and a traditional rubber looking one. Are there any advantages to using one over the other? Or not? Thanks.

Perhaps I don't know how to use it but I have never had good luck with a flat one..

I have had good luck with round soaker hoses but there are some tricks to the ones I use, like don't try to coil or uncoil while cold, fore example.
