I read some articles about proper cuttings for propagation. They all say to take cuttings in early summer or summer.

I prepared the potting soil first and made it moist. As soon as I cut the plants, I put them in a bucket of water, so they did not get dehydrated while I carried them to the pots to be planted. Then, I planted them right away by using some rooting hermone. I watered them. I kept them in the shady area. Every step was done immediately followed by another. I did this about one week ago in an evening.

The next morning I could already tell that the leaves were all starting to shrivel. I kept the soil moist at all time. They are all pretty much dead by now.

How is it possible to root the cuttings in summer time? I did keep the soil moist at all time, but it is just too hot for them to take the stress.

I took cuttings of barberry, juniper, azalea, loropetalum, knockout rose, nandina, dwarf gardenia.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
