should I cut back transplant?

Hi, this is really a very long story but for now I will spare you the details.

In short, I moved a Jap. Yew (dwarf?) to a hopefully better location. I would like to know if I should cut it back. It isn't too healthy right now. I discovered that the soil was kinda clay. I don't really know how that happened since we don't have clay anywhere else. I do have a theory though. Anyways, it was also in too much shade and so I decided to move it, amend the soil, and hope for the best. It is currently about 2.5 feet in diameter.

What do you think?
