Chop some gashes in the tops of the stumps or drill holes in them, & then pour sugar on top & water it in.

If the thought of buying sugar to put on stumps makes you flinch, you can use anything sugary, such as flat sodas or beer, leftover wine, old jellies, etc.

Microbes will consume the sugary/watery wood.
