soaker hoses

the black foam rubber looking types. i've used them before on level ground & they worked kinda'/sorta' ok. i just hooked one up. it's running slightly uphill. it seems you need to hook the water to the high end. the way it's hooked now ( on the low end ) it's watering heavy at the bottom & barely at the top. anyone have any experiences to share?
