I don't know that individual hangers would be sturdy enough or tall enough for heavy pea or bean plants, but you could try a pyramid:

Stick the ends of 3 hangers into the ground, in as big a circle as you want, at an angle so that the hangers meet about 4" from the top in a "teepee" or pyramid shape.

Bind the tops together with heavy twine or another piece of wire.

You'll end up with something roughly like a tomato cage, & the vines can climb up the sides.

I was thinking mutual support would be needed. However, I was thinking rows. I'm moving away from a strictly linear garden; but, my thinking still lags. Given the way metal coat hangers breed when left alone in closets, I thought more people would be using them in their gardens.
