I have a Stihl BG 75 blower that I bought new 10 years ago. It has given me zero problems and always started on the 1st-2nd pull every time.

Suddenly it started acting up. It will start, idle, but when I go to accelerate it floods out. I have taken the carb off and cleaned, taken the exhaust off and cleaned, and it still acts up. Needless to say I was quite disappointed at the carb being made in China 10 years ago.

So I take it to the dealer I bought it from. They just called and said there is an issue with the high speed nozzle. They have done the carb kit with no luck, checked compression which is 115-120. He said they cannot get the high speed nozzles and it will need a new carb. He then tells me that the carb will be $75, and including the carb kit they installed ($13) and time and labor it would be around $125 out the door.

Then he tells me that most do not want to sink $125 into a 10 year old blower, and they would sell me a new BG 86C and give me some money for the old one. Said we were looking at $200 OTD for the new one.

Am I getting hosed here? The BG75 was only used around the house. Should they be charging me for the cost of the carb kit if I put a new carb on?
