850 hours on a JD 455 is NOTHING. heck, it is just getting broke in. either one is a good machine, so look at what dealers you have nearby for support(you WILL need it) and which fits you better.

use the one you get to tow your craftsman to a cliff and push it over.

Either machine would be a great choice, and the advice about having a dealer you can reach may be obvious but it's obviously good.

A lot of the guys doing grass contracts around here use these machines and keep them for many years.

The JD 455 is famously robust and durable. If the Kubota doesn't have power steering (personally I've never seen a G1900 that didn't) that would make it a pain to handle in the tight stuff and I wouldn't even consider it.
