Honda 1011 body removal question:

I am working on a Honda 1011 RER and am attempting to remove the one piece body in order to work on the electrical system. I have removed all of the mounting screws and the bolt through the steering wheel however cannot get the steering wheel off of the steering shaft. Any pointers on how to accomplish this? Thanks.

Maybe you are lucky and the shaft is round and clear. I'd be soaking it with penetrating oil, lock the shaft and trying to work it free. Is is possible to remove the shaft from the bottom? Is removing the body getting you where you need to go?

I am going to look at the steering gear and see if it will go that way. The solenoid is suspect and there's an open in the trigger wire from the ignition switch and you cannot access these areas with the body on. Is the steering shaft where the wheel mounts smooth or splined? Thanks!
