The alternative is to buy a front-end loader but your tractor would need hydraulics for that. And they are more expensive than a JB is and cost more to ship. If you have a garden tractor with a three-point hitch on the rear, there is an attachment known as a "rear scoop".

You don't mention what you have for a tractor but if it is a "lawn tractor", then even a JB isn't a good idea for it.

I bought a johnny bucket jr. and 48" plow 3 years ago for my 2002 Craftsman DLT300, and haven't had any problems with either one. It's a lawn tractor. I love both of them!

My "Tractor" is a Husquvarna YTH2348. The work that I would be doing is top soil and gravel. I realize that I would be moving a small amount at a time. This is just yard work. Filling in low spots and driveway maintinance.
I am thinking that this may be a god send for my wife as she's getting older and has to rest after several wheel borrows full of dirt. I would like her to be able to get me a beer with out haveing to take a break. Thanks
