maybe if you google something like 'blue corydalis and nursery' you could find a midwest vendor whose mailing charges would be lessened because of your proximity to them?

The blue ones are not easy to grow like the yellow. I've killed at least twelve of them. (in pots and in the ground) I spoke to several specialty growers recently at plant sales who no longer grow them because of this. Two recommended C. elata instead of 'Blue Panda' and the other blue ones.

They are all over the place here at every nursery. I would not know where to get them mail order.

One easy one is Corydalis solida which you can get as dried tubers hence cheap to post. It flowers very early in the year around the same time as crocuses and is great in a wodland or semi shaded position. There are various named forms as well as the purple species .

Corydalis sempervirens is a beautiful little plant (though not hardy by you) and can readily be grown from seed.

Corydalis solida will grow just like c. lutea, only it flowers earlier in the spring. If happy, it also seeds around like lutea. The colour is pinky-purple. Much cheaper and more permanent than all those blue varieties.

Thanks for your replies. I'm sure some specialty nursery around here must have more varieties, but they're all located out in the distant suburbs and I just never get out there.

I will keep up the hunt. Solida kind of sounds like the one I should be looking for.
