LA140 problem

Hey guys, I have a problem with my tractor. It's 2\3 yrs old, and I use it to cut a little more than 1/2 acre, most of the lawn is sloped (drops about 10ft every 30ft of travel). It has gone up and down the slopes with no problem, until just a couple of weeks ago. Now, it will barely go up the slope, and i have to "baby" it, moving the foot feed till it "catches" and will slowly make it up---only on a diagonal, not straight up. there is no belt squeal, and the tractor will only go up so far, before it just sits.....i'll have to back down, and go up a mild slope to get it up the hill. I would be grateful for any help! I haven't replaced the original belt, and the dealer told me that the tranny is belt driven, and spring loaded....with no adjustment for the spring.
