I have an issue with my riding mower. When I start it for the first time, it will run for about 10 seconds and stall. The engine floods and will not restart. I have to leave it sit for several days before it will restart. All normal maintenence has been done. I have noticed that some of the stops on the carb linkage are a little loose.

Float sticking, bad. Tap on the carb bowl OR remove the top of it being very careful with the gasket, it has to come off with the top and will be nearly impossible to find a replacement without buying an entire carb overhaul kit or gasket kit.

I would remove the hex plug on the lower right hand side of the carb and see if a bunch of water, crape, runs out before taking the top off.
