Don't see any reason why not,tho I'm sure someone on here will find a reason not to.

You'll be fine. Carb. may need more adj. after bar and chain is installed.

Be careful with the speed...The chain acts as a governor.

You should be fine. The only problem I have had running without the bar and chain installed was when the clutch had been off to replace the oil pump. I was revving it to check the oiler output when the clutch parted company. Obviously not tightened properly.
