I think the deck should follow the shape of the house similar to a light house design. Front door could be painted grey if you don't want it to stand out too much.

I always love a red door, and what are you planning to do with the deck? It is like a front porch or do you want it to open up towards the side of the house so you have entertaining space? I like the idea above but not much space if you are having a BBQ with friends.

Meghan - I thought about red for the door but the siding (which is supposed to be red) is more of an orange. I was thinking a dark green. I want to have the deck go out from the front door to the french doors and around the side of the house to the back yard over the retaining wall but I'm not sure if it should be "round" or if I could get away with squaring off on that side would work.
