Snapper RER Brake Cable issue

Howdy. Just picked up a snapper RER, model 28086S.

I'm going over it to get familiar with it and I noticed that the brake/clutch cable is cutting into the main tube of the frame where it exits near its connecting point to the pedal.

Is this a common problem with these mowers, and is there a fix for it? I looked through a couple of newer parts diagrams and didn't see any type of grommet or slide that could be placed there to prevent the tube from being cut.

I'm actualy wondering if the cable is routed incorrectly.

The parts diagram and owner's manuals that I found don't really show much detail about the way it's supposed to be routed to the pedal.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
