I bought the SRM-210 after tossing my Troy Bilt. Best 200 bucks I have spent in a long while. Plenty of power, starts right up, head has never tangled (I got the bump head). I also put the brush blade on the end of it in order to do some backyard clearing. Went through 3 tanks of gas before I was done. That machine was happy as can be running full bore for hours.

Can't beat the 5 year warranty. Spend the extra 70 or 80 bucks and buy a tool you can rely on and not worry about.

I second the SRM210. Don't be cheap, you are tall, you'll be much happier with the longer straight shaft. Get tap advance head. With good maintenance, it will last you for a long long time. 5 years warrante. Husky's warrante is shorter.
There must be a reason they have both reconditioned trimmers ( customer return!!!) People don't like it!!!!

Thanks for the comments. I couldn't wait and the same day I posted I ended up getting the reconditioned GT200R and it worked great... for 5 minutes then it wouldn't run. I took it back, I'm not going to chance it without a warranty. I will say that it felt balanced and capable, a pleasure to use compared to the raucous 31 cc Troy Built I was using.

So I'm going to get the SRM 210 - I'd just like to see this thing on sale, somewhere - its $220 at Home Depot.

One final question, the tap head. I thought I saw on the Echo website that the SRM 210 comes with the "Echomatic Pro Head" is this the one everyone is referring too? Has anyone used the U-turn head? Thanks.

I believe Echomatic Pro Head is the one, not 100% sure, can other people verify? I know for sure I don't want the quick loading head.

Check with a dealer, they should be the same price as Home Depot and you can get service in the future. Don't know anything about the new U turn head though. I won't pay extra cost to buy a new head. What you are buying is a big upgrade already. If you pay another $30 for a head, you start getting into the higher price range and you have more choices again.......Unless you are thinking about a more expensive one......we can talk more again!!!
