Simplicity Deck Rollers

I was about to pull the trigger on a Simplicity Regent when the dealer mentioned that I could get the same tractor in a Snapper without the rollers which got me thinking. I found a couple mentions to the rollers getting hung up, is that really much of an issue to you current owners? I'm curious as to how well it handles debris or rocks and such while mowing.

Also, I was hesitant to ask, but still really curious, what if there are pets that use the yard and you miss something cleaning up. Humorous I know, but I envision making a mess with those rollers...

I have cut the grass a few times with mine.......no problems at all.

I have the mulch kit on mine. Anything in the yard either gets chewed up by the blades before the rollers get to it or the rollers roll right over it. I haven't hung mine on anything.

I have a few roots that I ride over and the rollers just roll right over them. I also have a serious mole problem so there are hills, holes, and tunnels all through my yard. No problems with any of that either.

I even mow in reverse.....no hang-ups there either.

I haven't hung the rollers or scalped the lawn yet. Just beautiful lawn stripes. Now that I have them, I'm glad I do.

The rollers were the primary reason I selected the simplicity. I guess it would depend somewhat on your particualr application. See the link below. If you go to the bottom of the page that lists the topics (not this one, the previous one) and enter simplicity, regent etc. you will find a range of topics posted on these mowers. I think most will be in favor of the rollers. Here is another link (cut and paste into browser) on the same subject (snapper vs simplicity)http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/tractor/msg0813153627528.html

I've used Simplicity models for 4 years now and never had the rollers hang up. It's a non issue.

Thanks for the quick input, I just went over and purchased my regent (I'm very close to the dealer), looking forward to trying it out after they deliver it tomorrow. Thanks again.

Good luck! Enjoy your new tractor.

Smart move. The rollers make an already fine cut look exceptional. I've had them for years and never had an issue, and my neighbors are always jealous of the look.

If you don't mind, what model regent did you get and what did you pay??? My brother is looking at a regent 2044 (20hp 44" deck) and the dealer is asking $2599. That seemed a little on the high end, but they are the only dealer in the area. There were some recent posts about high prices recently.

That sounds like list price which is about right, one dealer here charges list, the one I bought from charges 100 under list, at least on the 1838 and 2038 model I was looking at.

    I paid $2599 for my 2008 Regent 22/44 (22 HP Briggs ELS & 44 inch deck).

oh yes, the rear rollers on deck get hung up just going over a small lip onto concrete slab, when all other mowers have no problem. It has bent the metal rod, twice. stops you now when mowing. seems like there is no solution to this problem, I want a mower not to have a pretty lawn design. now what?

It really is an issue the rollers in back getting hung up. Its bent the rod back so the back

tires are rolling against the roller wheels. Marks up the lawn like someone had been using

a dirt bike. Wonder if it never was put together right in the first place. Wales lawn & garden.
