Prunus glandulosa

I added a second Dwarf Flowering Almond (Prunus glandulosa 'Sinensis') to my patio months ago and was wondering if anyone had experience with it. I am trying to diagnose what is causing some leaves to brown out and parts to die out.
I originally suspected lack of moisture since we are in the upper 90s and random 100s but nearby shrubs are not having a problem that suggested insufficient watering of them either. I also considered dieback but again, close plants are not having fungal or "too much water" problems.
It was planted 2 months ago so I may need to extract it and check the root system to rule out root rot and the like.
No signs of pests but I have not looked for pests that well. Any other ideas? I have seen evidence of aphids on some nearby roses. The shrub is mulched and actually gets some shade from two other trees.
The first and older shrub is 3-4' high, quite far away from this one and shows no problems.
TIA, Luis
