natural spring

Hi

Forgive my ignorance this is all new to me. I have what appears to be an old spring. There is about an 18 inch pipe at the bottom of a 10 foot hill. This hill runs down from a flat 12 acre workable field. The pipe is broken off so a little bit of the hill erodes into the pipe. There is about 18 inches of water then silty mud in the pipe. This water always flows over the lip of pipe even in very very cold weather. It feeds a small stream which feeds a larger creek. My question is what can I do to tap into this spring? Extend the pipe? install some type of pump, what is a sand point? I would like to keep some horses in the field but don't want to pay for a drilled well. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thank You
