Help with drip irrigation

Hello all,

We are re-landscaping the front of our house this year, and we are planting some shrubs. We will also have some annual beds, and some window boxes. I am wanting to put in a drip irrigation system for these areas but I am terribly confused.

First, can anyone suggest a good resource for information on drip irrigation system design.

Now for the questions. Our soil, for the most part is a clay and sand mix. I do ammend the soil when I plant shrubs. I am wondering what rate emitter and spacing I would need for my shrubs. Right now I have 1 gallon drawf nandina, and 3 gallon japanese holly.

Also, we are putting in some window boxes (37"L x 10"W x 8"H). What rate and how many emitters would I need for that?

Finally, for the general annual bed areas, should I use a micor sprayer or is there something else that would be better suited to that area.

Your help would be greatly appreciated as I am terribly confused with all of the equipment that is out there.

Thanks in advance,

Rob Hix
