I've started investigating drip systems and noticed that both systems I've looked at (mrdrip.com and Raindrip) recommend overhead irrigation for groundcover.

Is this because the drippers can't be placed well in dense groundcover, or is there another reason? I thought watering at ground level was always preferable.
