I have been hoping someone would come up with something, because I was slightly interested from your description. You might try the Landscape Design Forum. I don't know if you'd be likely to have any better luck there, but it couldn't hurt to try.

Here is a link that might be useful: Landscape Design Forum

i will, thanks for the suggestion. but... surely it was a very well reviewed book, am surprised that nobody knows about it. i moved and some stuff got misplaced - may be i'll find it eventually ..o).

Sorry, I am unable to find any reference to the book you are looking for. Suggest that you search for horticulturist Ken Druse's blogs or twitter account and ask your question in the space where he can be contacted. He is very approachable and probably is the most informed on current publications related to all aspects of gardening.

Isn't pollarding a chapter in pruning books rather than a book itself? Any good book on pruning should include pollarding.
Mike

it's more about tree sculpting techniques, not regular pollarding. i am looking thru all sorts of bibliography on arborsculpture sites. but as far as i remember, the book was not about 'weird sculpting' like making chairs from living trees. perhaps closer to live willow hedges/structures, the way it's done in france.
ken druse name is familiar - i think i have his book. i'll look into that, thanks.
i searched landscaping forum - there's not that many posts on tree sculpting, which is surprising to me.
