How to set up basic drip hose on timer?

Hi

I'd like to set up a basic drip hose/tape system for the front of my house as I'm planting hydrangeas on 2 sides. Right now it's a retirement/weekend place and we're not here all the time.

It's basically a 60 foot run all across.

I can feed off 1 spigot but would need to run about a 20 foot length of nondrip hose under the porch, if that's possible.

Basic questions:

Dripper: tube or tape?

Timer: which brand is good? Are any of these smart yet, ie. possible to work remotely from a computer (or am I dreaming here)?

I plan to do this myself - am I nuts?

If someone could outline the basics of doing this smartly or provide an explanatory link, I'd be very grateful.

I can fill in the rest.

Thanks in advance.
