is that molding on the ceiling?

love this room. is that some kind of molding on the ceiling? any info would be great. thanks!

    Thank you for your kind words. What you see in the image is a crown molding transitioning from the wall to ceiling (pretty common). A second molding was installed on the ceiling and I specified for the ceiling to be painted white up to this molding. Once this was complete and the center was painted chocolate I was hoping to give the appearance of a tray ceiling with out the expense and labor.

      Thank you...I am wanting very much to do a ceiling detail like this but only have 8' ceilings (room dimension is 12'10" X 15')...what do you think? My concern is that it would appear to lower the ceiling too much.

      Actually, if you decide to execute this design and paint the center a darker color like this space it should appear to make the space feel larger and the ceiling taller. Therefore, I would totally go for it!
