Scheduling an irrigation system

Am looking at getting a lawn irrigation system installed. I just got two estimates - one a Toro and the other a Rainbird. The estimates are quite similar, but I was told by the Rainbird contractor that I can't have different zones scheduled for different days. (I didn't talk about this with the Toro contractor).

I have already installed drip irrigation for my hanging plants tied to a hose end timer. I want to tie the drip irrigation into the underground system - and expand it. The lawn will be watered every other day - but my hanging plants must be watered every day - actually twice a day. But the contractor said the irrigation system timer will let you pick only one primary schedule (daily or certain days of the week) and I'd have to get a second timer to have my drip irrigation everyday and the lawn every other day.

Is this correct? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
