Find your Faucet Pressure and flow rate. Essential to your method of irrigation. At the house faucet put a slitter so that you can use the faucet hose with your garden line connected permanently. Bury a permanent 1" pvc pipe to the entrance point and create a second faucet (put the 1 " pvc line bottom upward bend in a concrete block for reaction to 90 degree water change in the line) in your garden at your entrance. You can turn on the water when you enter the garden. If you want to automate put your controller and valve boxes there as well. Soaker Hoses do not take pressure well and will clog giving uneven watering. If you can, slope your garden away from the center at a 1% grade. This give drip lines better performance with head loss. Improve your soil to take capillary action well. JMHO Aloha

Aloha, great info. It is impossible to change the grade. So soaker hoses are no hope?

If I want to bury the hose from the house to the garden, how hard is it to bury the hose? I do not wish to roll up the hose when I cut the lawn. Then should I use hard PVC pipe, or the regular garden hoses can do? I think it is about 120' from the outlet to the garden gate.

Use Sch40 pvc only not garden hose(unreliable). PVC is the simplest for a DIYer and most reliable. Do you know how the glue the lengths together?

Now I'm planning to extend the length to 120' and make two grape trellis systems 110' long. I do not know how I can water that long with water hoses.

I do not know if soaker hose is an option here. The good thing is that, when the grapes get established, regular irrigation may not be needed.

Use pressure compensating dripline. A half inch line can be run 400', even with a grade, and have perfect even watering. Just snake it through the beds. Its that easy.
