Tea Pruning

This year I didn't really get to prune my Mrs. BR Cant. I thought she was good and I had a lot of others to do. Well we had so much rain, she was weighed down by the wet blooms. It was a sad sight. Then we had a horrible storm Saturday night. It cleaned all the blooms off of Mrs BR Cant, so I decided to cut it back to day.

Here is how it looked after the storm. It was flopping over the drive way and onto the lawn:

This is her post pruning. I took out about 5 big old canes. I didn't shorten any canes, just took them out at the base. I tried to take out anything that was very low growing and likely to flop over the lawn or driveway. I'm going to try to get it to be more upright

She does look a little bare now, but I know she'll be blooming her head off in a few weeks.
