In agreement with prior posters. These wisteria vines can indeed cause trouble but do look very nice. There are some artificial ivy products that can imitate it very nicely.

I don't know if this is for a house or something commercial, but another great wine is grapes. Not only do they add beautiful shade and grow very quick, but the fruit is an added bonus. I used grape vines to cover my gazebo. Based on varieties however, they drop leaves in winter.

Hi Margery , this is Whisteria its a cousin of Monsteria (lol) , its a pain in the neck and spoils the house , Grapes any day are better ,Just Imagine eating Fresh organic grapes from your Patio , maybe start a wine yard later ;)

It will also choke out that wood pergola - beautiful but destructive - cannot be contained

I love wisteria but the grape will work for my new pergola. Grapes need a lot of water and take about 3 years to produce fruit but worth the wait! There is a great article in Houzz, "How to Start a Home Vinyard" that is quite informative!
