Sheared back veronica...big mistake?

So...I got sick and tired of looking at my veronica longifolia 'Alba' laying on the ground, smothering the other plants, and although they are/were in full bloom, I couldn't deal with looking at the mess. So I sheared them within several inches to the ground. The leaves on the bottom part of the stems were brown and crispy, so now I have stems of dried out leaves. Question is, will they regrow, and maybe flower again in the late summer? My mistake, I should have cut them back by half before they began to flower to keep them from flopping, something I knew I had to do since they did the same thing last year. But I procrastinated. Should I leave them at this height, or finish them off and shear clear to the ground?

Also, my Minuet veronica is getting the heave ho, I like the color of the foliage, but the flowers just flop on the ground. Not attractive. So I'm replacing them with Giles van Hees, same color flowers but hopefully none of the flopping. I bought six at a $1.65 a piece, in one gallon pots on Lowe's clearance rack. I hate to toss them, but I know of no one else to give them to. So, compost heap they go.

So, will my white veronica grow back?
