John Deere rider steering

I have a John Deere sx95 riding mower. The gears in the steering mechanism crunch together and some of the teeth are worn down. I was still able to steer (although very rough) but now the steering won't work at all.

Any suggestions about how to repair this and where to get parts?

The John Deere places that I have worked with are very good, and will help you find the part.

Before you go to the dealer you may wish to find the part at the John Deere site. It is index on the tractor model.

I was able to grab an entire steering gear set for an SX-75 on evilbay for short ($22.00) money. When complete, grease the snot out of it so you don't wind up in the same spot.
