simplicity transmission fluid

hi folks i have a 1990 simplicity riding mower model# 1691655 hydrostadic transmissions #1700690. it served me good all these years lately it seems to have less power my problem is that after running for awhile the fluid in the reservoir fills to the top of the reservoir then i stop hours later it returns to the fill line any ideas thanks ron.

According to the manual:

Add multipurpose transmission oil. You could use 30W oil in hot weather. Do not mix the multipurpose oil with the 30W oil.

I can't tell if this is a TuffTorq transmission. It doesn't look like one. You may want to drain it and refill with new fluid making sure you purge the air from it.

I'd check with a good Simplicity dealer for proper fluid type and see if there is a cross like 5W50 synthetic, and see if the service tech would tell you how to drain and replace the fluid.

Whups....That's supposed to say multipurpose hydraulic/transmission oil. Just to clarify.

There's a small section there about purging the transmission of air.
