I didn't know perlite has different size?

Hi there, just a suggestion regarding its use is that you screen any kind of perlite as there can be a lot of 'dust' mixed in which I found to be a real pest. I also found that even the larger grains of perlite as it is so light and airy, works it's way up to the top of the mix and makes a kind of crusty layer on the top. I'm not sure if I will actually use it again as before my last re-pot this spring, I had been using vermiculite and had never had problems with root rot/water retention, but was advised to swap to perlite....so I tried it out this season. I guess it comes down to personal taste and the circumstances one provides...as with a lot of choices. However, do remember that DR seeds need a constantly moist mix to germinate well, the well drained gritty mix is for juveniles and adult plants, generally. That's not to say you shouldn't use it for seeds, but perhaps in a smaller ratio? Hope someone else comes in with their thoughts :)
