Container/soil questions

Sam's sells UTZ pretzels in a clear 13" to 14" tall jug.

DH loves pretzels, but just isn't eating them fast enough.

I do have a couple of empty jugs to use.

The lid is large so I don't have to cut the container to put soil in, so my question is how big the cut should be for air flow.

My other question is how to keep the soil from falling apart when I get ready to plant out. I'd like to lift plants and soil out and plant the whole thing.

You could remove the pretzels and put them in either Tupperware containers or zip lock backs ;)

What I've done with large containers is cut the container so that you still have 4-5 inches (or more if you choose), and then duct tape the container closed for ws'ing after planted.

When it comes time for planting, you could tap the container, turning and tapping to loosen the soil. Then turn the container over in your hand close to where you want to plant (much like you would a cake from the pan).
