Hi Mary. You can sow just about any type of seed using this method. You should check out the FAQs Frequently Asked Questions for this forum and you will find answers to many of your questions.

Some seeds are just plain easier to direct sow. For me, this includes beans, cucumbers, zinnias, poppies, and others. I think that your garlic cloves are supposed to be planted directly in the ground in the fall - but maybe you can winter sow then transplant??
