The struggle to id Optimaras goes on & on! Its difficult to identify which solid blue or pink variety you have & also the pink/red thumbprints as they can change colors with the seasons. Flowers & leaves can often look different than what you see on My Violet. Optimara has a considerable presence on FaceBook & their home page features tons of additional pictures. There is also an ID site for help.

If you don't do FB, you may try another camera to send pics directly to Optimara for id help. Also search the gallery here & other AV sites. There are many pictures of Optimaras on the web. Some varieties you may never be able to id for sure, so enjoy them as mystery plants.

Hello Terri, Thank-you for replying to my post. I looked on FB and was able to id a lot of my avs. Thank-you. I have looked at so many pictures that I'm about cross-eyed now. I do have one that I can't seem to find or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place. It's an optimara. Flowers are single star, flowers are so dark red they appear black, leaves are pointed,dark green with deep red-reverse. Does anyone have any ideas on this one? plmk, Debbie
